People travelling out of Thimphu will now undergo an Antigen test instead of the RT-PCR test. The National COVID-19 Task Force implemented it with effect from yesterday. After lifting the lockdown in Thimphu on February 13, the RT-PCR test was made mandatory for all those travelling out of Thimphu.

“No positive cases were detected during the four days that people travelled from Thimphu to all districts. More than 10,000 people travelled doing RT-PCR. This is almost like a mass test in itself. Anybody who is going out of Thimphu can take an antigen test, and as you know, antigen tests are not like RT-PCR. Antigen test, you go and collect the sample and your report is available within half an hour. So, you can take the result with you and start your journey,” said Dr Tshokey, a member of the Technical Advisory Group.
