With the country continuing to see fresh COVID cases from the community every day, the DeSuups are continuing to help the health workers and other officials working tirelessly to contain the spread. The DeSuung office in Thimphu deployed about 1,500 DeSuups to four districts on Saturday. The DeSuups will assist the District Task Forces in the respective areas with their efforts.

The DeSuung volunteers have been handling various duties such as transporting stranded individuals, manning the red zone areas and managing quarantine and isolation facilities. They also assist the Police with their patrolling and other duties.

More than 1,000 DeSuups have been sent to different parts of Thimphu alone. Nearly 200 DeSuups went to Wangdue Phodrang and Punakha while 60 of them travelled to Gelephu on Saturday.

Recently, the vehicles that went to drop the volunteers to Wangdue brought back 59 stranded individuals from Baylangdra. The stranded people had gone there for retreat more than a month ago.

The DeSuung Office says they will be sending out more DeSuung volunteers to other districts in the coming days.

Meanwhile, more than 6,000 DeSuups are currently working in all parts of the country.
