Public service delivery in Pema Gatshel is expected to be efficient right from the beginning of their tenure when the local leaders take over their responsibility. This is because the local leaders including the Gups, Mangmis and Tshogpas took part in the first orientation programme held in the district. The four-day programme ended on Wednesday.

Ten Gups, 11 Mangmis and 51 Tshogpas attended the orientation programme for the first time. Only Gups were oriented on their responsibilities in Thimphu in the past.

The participants were familiarised with the various acts and guidelines and their roles in different activities.

The participants said it is useful for the newly elected leaders who would normally take time to become fully aware of their responsibilities as well as for those already experienced.

“It is very useful for us. We learned how best to serve the people and the gewog,” said Bopo Drukpa, Yalang-Khothakpa Tshogpa.

The Dzongkhag administration under the directives from the Department of Local Government organised the program.
