When it comes to combating coronavirus, the people of Tsirang have always been a step ahead. Business communities and farmers have been helping the district’s frontline workers, especially during the lockdowns. Some people including farmers supplied tons of vegetables to quarantine facilities making them one the first contributors to the nation following the pandemic in March 2020. The residents continued their support this time as well.

Some 12 individuals, mostly doing business in Damphu contributed a variety of edible items, vegetables and livestock products. It also included hand sanitisers and firewood for frontline workers.

It is an act of solidarity towards people who have been working round the clock to protect and keep people safe from the virus. The residents said it is a gesture of gratitude to His Majesty The King’s tireless efforts in safeguarding the nation.

The business community of Damphu also provided money to construct a quarantine facility with 23 beds near the Damphu hospital.

Until today, the district has not reported a single COVID case since March 2020 while some districts are still reeling from the pandemic. And all thanks to this exemplary collaboration and understanding.

Pema Tshewang, Tsirang
