BFF President’s Cup kicks off – Monggar

The first edition of the Bhutan Football Federation’s President’s Cup at Gyalpoizhing in Monggar started today. During the opening match, team Paro FC defeated FC Youngster 5-1. 

According to the BFF, the tournament will be the biggest tournament the federation has ever organized in the eastern region. The top five teams from the Bhutan Premier League; Paro FC, Thimphu City FC, Transport United FC, Druk Lhayul FC and Ugyen Academy will compete on away soil. They will be joined by two teams from Monggar and Trashigang.

A total of seven teams including the top five clubs from Bhutan Premier League and two teams from Monggar and Trashigang are competing in the tournament. The finals will be played on the 15th of this month. The winner will take home a cash prize of Nu 200,000 and Nu 100,000 for the runners up.

The competition aims to keep the top BPL clubs engaged during the off-season and to promote football in the eastern region.
