Dr Yoriko Nishizawa, a neonatologist and an associate professor at the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), who was recently awarded the Nakasone Yasuhiro award donated her prize money to the university today. She handed over the prize money of more than Nu 300,000 to the president of the university.

Dr Yoriko received the award last month in Tokyo. The award is in recognition of her contribution towards the improvement of the medical welfare system particularly in the areas of maternal, child health and neonatal care in the country. The Nakasone Yasuhiro award was established in 2004 to recognize young people actively working on global issues.

The Health Minister graced the ceremony.
