Once complete, the De-suung National Service Water Project will benefit about 96 households of Gida and Jamdo villages under Maedwang Gewog in Thimphu. The water will be supplied from Paktshikha stream that is about two kilometers away from the villages.

Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering inaugurated the ground-breaking ceremony, held today.

“As you serve in various national service projects, you are not just serving the people but equipping yourself with skills that will go a long way in enhancing your lives. In the near future, I see our DeSuups bringing in newer technologies and skills enhancing the livelihoods of our people,” said the Prime Minister.

The water project is expected to provide clean and reliable drinking water to the people. Fifty DeSuups will work on the project worth nearly Nu 7 M. It is expected to complete within four months.

From the 31 De-Suung Water projects, 19 have been completed so far.
