More than 90 per cent of the graduates who sat for the Bhutan Civil Service Examination (BCSE) 2021 secured 50 per cent and above. 50 per cent is the minimum qualifying marks and one of the criteria for selection and placement. The pass percentage increased by eleven per cent compared to last year. The Royal Civil Service Commission declared the BCSE results this morning.
Karma Dema who pursued B.A. Honours in Economics from Sharda University in India topped the General category with 71.68 per cent.
“Topping RCSE is a dream come true for me and there are so many people I am grateful to. Hard work always gets paid no matter what we do. All we must do keep working hard and leave no space for regret. For some the results would have been disappointing but I would like to say there are always better opportunities,” said Karma Dema.
Kinley Wangdi who completed B.A. Language and Literature from the College of Language and Culture Studies in Trongsa topped the Dzongkha category with 81.33 per cent.
“I want to congratulate everyone who made it through this exam. And to those who didn’t, there is nothing to be sad about. Our country is developing. It is getting technologically advanced. So, if we have plans and strategies, one shouldn’t worry about not getting a job,” said Kinley Wangdi.
In the technical category, Jangchuk who studied B.Sc Traditional Medicine from the National Institute of Traditional Medicine in Thimphu obtained the highest score with 76.49 per cent.
“I am very happy and content today for topping technical category. Whatever we do in life, if we put our hearts into it, everything goes well,” said Jangchuk.
Similarly, Chimi Yangchen topped the B.Ed. Dzongkha category with 69.68 percent.
“Today I am really happy for topping this category. If I am to share a few words to our youths, it would be to tell them to choose their career properly,” said Chimi Yangchen.
And in B.Ed. General category, Phub Pem with B.Ed. Primary from the Paro College of Education topped with 76.74 percent.
“I would like to pay my humble gratitude to our king for keeping the country safe and in peace which led us to do our exam in peace amid this pandemic. Now I will be serving as a teacher in our country. And I will do my best and I would like to serve my nation with all my heart and soul,” said Phub Pem.
As per the RCSC, the selection and placement will be based on merit ranking and vacancies available. 686 vacancies are available for the various position at the professional and management level for the 2021 intake. However, the intake has come down this year. There were nearly 850 vacancies available last year.
Nearly 1400 graduates from 101 different colleges appeared for the examination this year.
