Everybody would want a good road. And that is about to become a reality for the people of Yuendruchhoeling in Langthil Gewog in Trongsa. The Bhutan Power Corporation that uses their six-kilometre long farm road is waiting for budget approval to blacktop the road. Officials say the work is expected to begin by this month.

The dzongkhag maintained the road in the last financial year. But the people want the farm road to be blacktopped since more than a hundred households use this road. The Bhutan Power Corporation also has a substation in the village and uses the farm road frequently.

“The dzong here has the sacred Kudung of Terton Pema Lingpa so people from all walks of life come here for blessings. If the farm road could be blacktopped, all the devotees will be immensely benefited,” said Pema Sherab, the Machey Zimpon of Yuendruchhoeling Dzong.

Tenzinla, a Langthil resident said, “The road is in a good condition however if it could be blacktopped, it would look like roads in the towns.”

“If the road is blacktopped, people residing near the road will not have to live with dust,” said Dechen.

Another resident Sonam Tshering said, “I think the road will be damaged within a few months because five to six trucks use the farm road every day.”

BPC officials indicated that the budget would come and the road would be blacktopped soon, putting all problems to rest.
