Nubi Gewog in Trongsa is losing its livestock to tiger attacks at an alarming rate. Last night a breeding bull of the polled cattle breed was killed by a tiger in Gagar village. The bull was killed just about 100 metres from the cowshed. The attack comes just a day after a milking cow was lost to a tiger attack in Semji.
Polled cattle breeds are those breeds of cattle with no horns.
Residents say there are two tigers on the prowl in their village.
Meanwhile, officials from the Bhutan Tiger Centre in Gelephu say livestock insurance and compensation scheme will be implemented once the tiger population census survey is complete. The survey is underway, however, the pandemic is impeding the progress.
