People in Goling village in Nangkor Gewog of Zhemgang are overjoyed to get a new Lhakhang. Their old Lhakhang, which has been in the community for about a century, was on the verge of collapse.

The new Goling Jampelcholing Lhakhang was constructed on the same spot where the old Lhakhang stood. Khentruel Dorji Thokmeth from the same village initiated and funded the re-construction of the Lhakhang. It was consecrated recently.

“The old Lhakhang was in need of a renovation. We are very grateful that we got more than what we wished for, including new statues. We are blessed,” said the caretaker, Kinzang Wangchuk.

“Because we could not renovate the old Lhakhang in time, the roofings even started to leak. Now we have a new Lhakhang all due to Khentrul Dorji Thokmeth’s generosity,” a resident said.

“Lhakhang plays an important role in a life of a Bhutanese. Whether in birth, sickness or death, we need a Lhakhang. We are happy now that we have a safe Lhakhang. It will benefit all the people of Goling,” added another.

The new Lhakhang will benefit about 70 households of Goling village. About 16 million ngultrum was spent on the reconstruction.
