Gyalpozhing police in Monggar are yet to investigate an alleged rape case of a minor. The Paro police arrested a 22-year-old suspect in connection to the crime. He will soon be summoned to the Gyalpozhing police station for investigation.
The 16-year-old minor who is eight months pregnant is a student in one of the schools in Monggar. The incident reportedly happened between February and March this year. The issue came to the school’s notice when the matron reported the case to the school management. The school management then forwarded the case to the Dzongkhag Education Sector and the National Commission for Women and Children.
The minor’s parents reported the case to the police on Wednesday. According to sources, initially, the parents decided to solve the matter mutually and did not report the case to the police.
