The Samdrup Jongkhar district court sentenced a 35-year-old man to 32 years and 10 months in prison for the rape of a minor. The court passed the judgment yesterday.
The culprit was arrested by the police in May after they were informed that a twelve-year-old girl had given birth. The incident came to light after the victim and the baby were taken to a nearby BHU due to the baby’s declining health.
The incident happened last year when schools remained close due to the pandemic.
