Not many residents of the COVID high-risk areas are aware of the health ministry’s ongoing comprehensive health screening services. According to the health minister, the ministry continues to receive enquiries from the residents of high-risk areas about the seven-day mandatory quarantine to visit Thimphu for medical check-up. The ministry is urging the residents to avail themselves of the services at their respective districts.

The ministry initiated the comprehensive health screening service last week. Six teams of medical specialists are carrying out the screening in the high-risk areas which include the bordering areas in the south and Merak and Sakteng in Trashigang. It will continue until the mid of December.

“So, that includes medical specialist services, gynaecological services, surgical services including endoscopy, ENT services and ophthalmology, eye specialist services along all the high–risk area. This should ease the access issue of availing specialist services in the country. I know specialist services are mostly in the JDW and today we are taking these services to the high-risk areas and easing the inconvenience of our people. So, we want to request everybody to come forward and avail themselves of these services,” said Health Minister Dechen Wangmo.
