The Nehru-Wangchuck Cultural Centre in the capital offers free classes from Yoga to Music. The Centre also has facilities like Library and reading room, exhibition gallery among others. However, the facilities are underutilised, according to the Centre.

“There is not much taker. Had there been such facilities elsewhere, it would have been grabbed by the people. All the facilities, Yoga classes, internet among others are for the Bhutanese people. All the facilities are free of cost. We have good numbers of books. Students preparing for RCSC can come here, refer the books and use internet,” said Padam Talwar, Director, Nehru-Wangchuck Cultural Centre.

The Centre also has a library and reading room with books covering wide range of subjects, from art and culture to fictions. It also has an exhibition gallery and multi-purpose hall.

The Centre organises regular cultural artistic programme, to give platform for both Bhutanese and Indian artists to interact and showcase their talents. Scholarships for studies in Indian art and culture are also provided by the centre.

The Yoga classes are being conducted by a professional trained teacher. The classes are being held in the morning and evenings during the week days. Some of the people who have been attending yoga classes said they are happy to get opportunity to learn yoga.

The Nehru-Wangchuck Cultural Centre was opened in September 2010 in the Capital.  It is the cultural wing of the Embassy of India in Bhutan.
