Three people were arrested in connection with prostitution on Tuesday in Tshongdue, Paro. Police will charge a 26-year-old Bhutanese woman with prostitution and a 20-year-old Indian man for patronising a prostitute.

Police will also charge a 46-year-old businesswoman with the offense of promoting prostitution. She will also be charged for possessing tobacco products beyond permissible quantity, 1,600 packets of cigarettes, over 200 rolls of bedis and many different brands of chewing tobacco. The goods were found hidden in her shop.

The police also seized Nu. 72,000 in cash. She was charged for promoting  prostitution in 2009, but there was no evidence. She kept a room behind her shop for prostitution.

The police said she is a repeated offender.
