With the completion of the 400-bedded quarantine facility at Amochhu in Phuentshogling, it is expected to address the shortage of quarantine facilities in the district. The facility was consecrated today. Upon command of His Majesty The King, the government began the construction of the facilities in July this year.

The quarantine facility is located at Amochhu, a few kilometres away from the town. It will be soon handed over to the district administration.

The facility will be used to quarantine people coming from abroad including foreign workers. It will mitigate the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Currently, more than 420 people are quarantined in hotels there.

The quarantine facility has 32 blocks including rooms for immigration, medical, duty personnel and control room.

A block will have four rooms and each room will accommodate five people. Rooms are equipped with television sets, kitchen, toilet and bathroom.

Over 300 DeSuups, Armed Forces Personnel and members from the Build Bhutan Project completed the construction in 50 days.

Samtse, Gelegphu and Samdrup Jongkhar have a 200-bedded quarantine facility each.
