The Samtse district court today sentenced a 30-year-old man from Ugyentse Geog to four years in prison.

Phub Tshering was convicted of involuntary manslaughter of his 52-year-old wife.

The court also ordered him to pay more than Nu.200,000 as compensation to the deceased’s children.

The deceased is survived by five children from her previous husband.

The children are reportedly not satisfied with the verdict and plan to appeal to the High Court.
