Finance minister to assume roles of Chair and Vice-Chair for the World Bank’s Small States Forum

The finance minister Namgay Tshering will step in as the Chair of Small States Forum and the Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group. He is the country’s first finance minister to assume the roles.

As the Chair, Bhutan will lead a forum that comprises of finance ministers of 50 countries and governors of Central Banks of 189 member states. The forum will address the challenges of the small countries.

The minister will also convene high-level dialogues with the World Bank Group and other multilateral and bilateral agencies on behalf of the small states.
