The Bhutan Civil Service Examination recorded the worst ever performance in the Preliminary Examination (PE) 2021. Just a little over 26 per cent of the university graduates passed the exam this time.
3,912 university graduates from 186 colleges in 14 countries appeared the PE this year. Only 1,028 graduates secured 50 per cent and above.
According to the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) officials, they are yet to find out the reasons behind this year’s performance.
The Commission has decided 50% as the cut-off percentage in the PE to qualify for the Main Examination to maintain minimum standard required and also to keep the number predictable, so that the graduates can prepare for the examination accordingly.
According to the RCSC there are 840 vacancies in the civil service this year.
The graduates who passed the PE will sit for the main examination from 29th to 31st October this year.
