The two Bhutanese working for the United Nations (UN) in Afghanistan have safely reached Almaty in Kazakhstan this morning. The UN evacuated around 140 international staff to Kazakhstan including the two Bhutanese. They had been at the US Military airport since Monday. They will now be working from the UN’s office in Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, a Bhutanese man is still in Afghanistan. According to the sources, he is safe inside the UN compound protected by International Armed Guards and the Taliban.

The Taliban took control of Kabul on Sunday after the US withdrew its troops from Afghanistan. The US has been in Afghanistan since 2001 after the fall of the World Trade Centre in New York City, US. International media reports that many nations are desperately trying to get their citizens and vulnerable Afghans out of the country. About 15 countries have evacuated their citizen out of Afghanistan so far.
