With the completion of the 24-hour complete lockdown this morning, Phuentshogling Thromde is back to life again. While businesses are all open, residents are cautioned to be careful as the town is still not safe from the Coronavirus.

The thromde went under lockdown after 11 positive cases were detected from medical supply depot yesterday.

All the 84 primary contacts have been quarantined, and high-risk buildings cordoned off. The Southern COVID-19 Task Force said as the primary contacts had visited several shops and offices, they cannot rule out the possibility of more transmissions.

The task force reminds the people to follow the COVID safety protocols diligently.

“We are happy to be able to come out to town and do shopping. But we are very much concerned about the virus in the town. We wash hands wherever we go and wear face mask always,” said Kajee Rai, one of the residents.

“I run a shop here. I let my customers wash hands and use the Druk Trace app before entering. For those who don’t have the app, I keep their details in a register,” said Hari Kumar Gurung, one of the shop owners.

Meanwhile, as of last night, more than 300 samples were collected from the contacts of the recent cases. All of them tested negative.

Besides, the Southern COVID-19 Taskforce has also heightened surveillance and monitoring in the town.
