The Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament has directed the dzongkhag administrations and gewogs to resolve the unresolved irregularities and submit a report to the audit by this month. Recently, they met with the officials from Trashigang, Pema Gatshel, Trashi Yangtse, Monggar and Lhuentse.

The consultative meeting is to recover the unresolved financial irregularities at the earliest.

“The unresolved irregularities date back to as far as 2015. The committee members thought that it is high time to resolve the issue now,” said Ugyen Tshering, the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee.

The consultative meeting will continue with other districts as well. According to the annual audit report 2020, unresolved irregularities increased by close to 45 per cent. The amount increased from about Nu 1.4bn in 2019 to more than Nu 2bn last year.
