The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) will soon decide on the arrangements to conduct the Functional Literacy and Possession of Skills Test in light of the pandemic. At the moment, the registration for the test for aspiring local government candidates is ongoing. It will go on until the mid of next month.

For earlier elections, the Commission had identified a centre in each gewog for Functional Literacy and Possession of Skills Test.

So far, the commission has issued about 8,700 FLT certificates.

According to the Head of the Department of Civic and Electoral Training of the ECB, Phub Dorji, the test centre will depend on the number of registered people. “So, depending on that sometimes we might need to create two test centres if there are more people to reduce the crowd. That is the main purpose of the announcement early and getting the registration done.”

This is being done to avoid big gatherings amid the pandemic.
