Thimphu Police seized close to 39,000 Spasmo-Proxyvon (SP) Plus capsules recently. The drugs addressed to a shop in Thimphu were consigned from Jaigaon, India via Gelegphu. First intercepted by Customs officials in Gelegphu, the consignment was allowed for transhipment to the addressee in order to nab the suspect. However, the suspect is still at large.

Thimphu police were alerted by the Gelegphu police last Friday after receiving four cartons of controlled substances from Jaigaon, India.

According to a source, the consignment was intercepted from a warehouse in Gelegphu by Customs officials. Addressed to a shop in Thimphu, the cartons were suspiciously wrapped with sacs and polythene and didn’t appear to be the cooking utensils as listed on the invoice.

Upon inspection, officials found the cartons filled with stripes of SP Plus. The source said police and customs decided to send the consignment to the addressee following the usual protocol to track the suspect.

Police are investigating the case.
