Pregnant woman battered

Earlier this month, police in Bumthang detained two sisters for allegedly beating a five months pregnant woman. The incident took place in one of the saloons at Chamkhar town.

The victim and the accused were friends before but after learning that the victim’s husband had an affair with one of the accused, they were not in talking terms since last year.

Police said, the day before the incident, the accused passed on a message to the saloon owner asking the victim to return the money borrowed.  It was then the accused met the victim in the saloon the next day and that’s when the incident took place.
