The upcoming political parties are gearing towards requirements for the registration with the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB). Currently there are four emerging political parties. They are Bhutan Kuen-Ngyam Party, Druk Chirwang Tshogpa, Druk Me-Ser Tshogpa and Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa.

Bhutan Kuen-Ngyam Party is planning to apply for the registration with the ECB in the first week of September. The party has about 17 candidates confirmed. Out of the 17 candidates, four of them are women. The Party’s spokesperson, Sonam Tobgay, said they are looking for the candidates who are committed, dedicated and willing to serve selflessly towards strengthening the political institution.

Druk Chirwang Tshogpa has decided to stick to the party name.  Earlier they called it Druk Democratic Socialist Party. The party has 14 confirmed candidates. Three of them are women. The party’s spokesperson, Tandin Tshering, said they have also identified the party president. The party is also working on its manifesto and charter.

Druk Me-Ser Tshogpa has about seven confirmed candidates. They have also identified the party president. They claim that the identified president is from the East. One of the core group members said they are planning to form a youth wing. The youth wing will have a youth president, he said.

Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa had issued a press release last week. According to the press release the party has confirmed 31 candidates out of 47.

Meanwhile, the four new parties cannot be termed as political parties until it is registered with the ECB.  The ECB says they will be recognized as political party, once it formally declares as a Political Party and register as one with the ECB.
