The Gelegphu COVID-19 Task Force issued a three-day closure notice, today, to 17 shops in Gelegphu town for breaching the COVID-19 safety protocols repeatedly. The shops were found not complying with the protocols, several times during routine patrolling by the monitoring teams of the COVID-19 task force despite repeated reminders.

They were found entertaining customers in their shops without using the Druk Trace app, no access to water facilities outside their shop for handwashing and some even entraining customers during the time of unloading the goods in godowns posing more risk of COVID-19 transmission from the unloading vehicles.

The 17 shops are asked to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols hereafter. The repeated offence would result in the closure of their shops for more days in future.
