A 12-year-old girl student died on the spot when the Alto car she was travelling in veered off the road and fell almost 500 meters below the road on Saturday in Monggar. The driver (33) is still in critical condition at the Monggar Regional Referral Hospital.
The accident occurred at around 3.50 pm at Gampoktor in Balam Gewog of Monggar.
During the time of the incident, the driver who is working as a School Administrative Officer in one of the schools in Monggar went along with the deceased to do shopping at Sherizampa, which is located at the junction of Balam and Shermuhoong Gewog. Police suspect human error/unlicensed driving as the cause of the accident.
