Five Bhutanese girls studying in a college in Meghalaya, India were left waiting for around four hours outside the Gelegphu border gate before being let in. They had failed to follow proper procedure such as notifying the officials. Immigration officials say the girls had to wait as officials verified their documents and arranged for quarantine facilities.

Officials added, Bhutanese coming from West Bengal and North-Eastern states of India have to inform Bhutanese Consulates in Kolkata and Guwahati respectively.
Meanwhile, Bhutanese in other states should contact the Bhutanese Embassy in Delhi.

Karma Wangdi, Gelegphu
