People living in the gewogs always complain of running from one office to another to get approvals for everything. The situation has improved in some places in the last few years. And this time, it is the residents of Draagteng Gewog in Trongsa, who will be enjoying this benefit.

A three-storied gewog administration office will provide all the services.

It will house the gewog administration office, livestock, agriculture offices and a community centre, bringing all services under one roof.

“We can provide all community services from here. I feel this is one way of achieving good governance. And we should all plan something like this,” said Draagteng Gup Kinzang Dorji.

“Many times, people require signatures not only from the gewog office but also from different service providers in the gewog such as forestry, livestock and gewog agriculture officials. So when offices are scattered, people have problems. But now, it becomes convenient,” added Dawa Tshering, Sr. Gewog Livestock Extension Officer.

There will also be an office space for parliamentarians to work from during their constituency visits. The residents are excited because it is going to save a lot of time and effort.

“There are plenty of spaces here for many different offices in future. When people get various services, there will be more economic activities and the community will develop,” said Yangden.

“It will be even more convenient if banking services could be established here as we need not travel to Langthil or Trongsa like today,” added Sonam Tenzin.

The gewog spent about Nu 10 M for the construction. It is a project the gup always wanted to initiate when he took office in 2016.
