Bhutan’s maiden participation in Judo at the Tokyo Olympics

Ngawang Namgyel, 23, will be the first Bhutanese to represent in Judo competition at the Tokyo Olympics this summer. The Bhutan Judo Association received confirmation from the International Judo Federation about Ngawang’s selection through the wildcard entry.
Currently, he is undergoing his training in Thimphu. Ngawang was one of the three Judo medalists at the South Asian Games in 2019. Along with him, an archer, a rifle shooter and a swimmer are also participating in the Olympics. The Olympics is scheduled take place in July.
