Two women and a man travelling from Nganglam to Gelegphu were quarantined in Zhemgang today after they allegedly violated high-risk to low-risk travel regulations.
They were reportedly found to have come in contact with a hotelier in Tingtibi under Zhemgang and even visited an automobile workshop there. Tingtibi is considered a low-risk area and as per protocol, travellers from a high-risk area are not allowed to stop or meet with people in the low-risk area while travelling. Their stopover was detected by the Dzongkhag Global Tracking Unit since the car they were travelling in was fitted with a GPS tracker.
However, they all tested negative for COVID-19 on an antigen test. An RT-PCR test will also be performed at the end of their quarantine. According to a source, they will be subjected to seven-day quarantine from today and a further course of action will be determined by the Dzongkhag COVID-19 Task Force of Zhemgang after they complete the quarantine. According to officials, despite strict surveillance and briefing at the entrances and exits of high and low-risk areas, people are still found violating protocols during their travels.
