Trashigang District court sentenced two men to life imprisonment for stealing and smuggling antiques from Rongthung Nagtshang in Trashigang. They had stolen antiques worth over Nu.1.15 million in March this year. Two police personnel, received one year and two years eight months imprisonment respectively for possessing the stolen items and failing to report the crime. They were also involved in a smuggling case.
Two other men were also sentenced to seven months and one year three months in prison for involving in a ZEE or cat’s eye smuggling. The case was disclosed while investigating the Nagtshang robbery case. Of the six convicted, three of them can bail out.
All the stolen antiques were recovered and handed over to the owner of the Nagtshang. The Judgment was passed yesterday.
