The Prime Minister, who is also the president of Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT), decided to go for the president’s campaign during the bye-election. According to the DNT party office, the date is yet to be confirmed as it will depend on the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader, who is the president of Druk Phuensum Tshogpa, said the party decides to still forgo the president’s campaign. However, if the DNT president visits the constituencies, the party said it will revisit the decision.

Earlier this month, the Opposition Leader proposed the Prime Minister to forgo the campaign given the COVID-19 situation in the east and the ongoing parliament session.

The bye-election of Monggar and Nganglam constituencies will be held on the 29th of next month. And the campaign started last week.
