39-year-old Uttar Kumar Rai is re-contesting for the post of Thrompon. The former Phuentshogling Thrompon, representing Nyedrag constituency in Phuentsholing has a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce.

According to him, since he now knows the issues and challenges faced by the people, he came up with a manifesto to solve them. He says he is the right person with the right experience for the thromde.

“I have a hands-on experience of a thrompon. I know Thrompons have a bigger responsibility. I already know the problems of people. I too have the solution. I just need to implement them in the field now. It is an advantage for the people if they vote for me,” he said.

Among his pledges, he also has dream projects to facelift the town. He adds that such projects will make people live a luxurious life and the town can attract tourist too.

“For the public, it should not always be infrastructural development, there need to have recreational facilities too. It is necessary to have theme parks, a water kingdom and all in the town. I, therefore, included them as a dream project in my manifesto. If I am re-elected as a Thrompon, I will start planning and implement it immediately. I am going to focus more on such facilities too,” he added.

Uttar Kumar Rai started his door to door campaign on April 3. However, it was cut short due to the lockdown in the Thromde since the night of April 16.
