Gasa Tshachu, one of the most popular hot springs in the country takes a new shape with the site development works. The visitors at the hot spring can now experience better facilities compared to the past. This is because many developmental activities such as the construction of footpath, canopies and streetlights are taking place. The works started since 2017.
In the past, the parking area at the Tsachhu remains dusty in the winter and muddy during the monsoon. However, the parking area was also blacktopped recently. Construction of canopies and guesthouses were also completed.
Meantime, the construction of restrooms and footpath between the guesthouse and pond are ongoing.
“Cleanliness and hygiene are maintained properly here. Moreover, there is enough space to take rest and have meals,” said Tawla, a visitor.
“During those days, there was no road towards the Tshachhu and we had to walk down from up there. Now, the road has reached the area. Moreover, we don’t have to pitch tents since there are enough guesthouses,” said Namgay Dorji, another visitor.
“We are putting extra effort to provide better services to the public,” said Tandin Dorji, Manager of the hot spring.
The hot spring also has a separate accessible guesthouse for the people living with disabilities near the ponds. Moreover, the management also has a plan to construct a pool for animals in the hot spring area.
The hot spring is believed to cure various diseases such as digestive disorder, joint pains, skin and throat diseases.
According to the manager, more than Nu 2 M was generated in a year. But the income was affected last year due to the pandemic.
The site developmental activities are carried out phase-wise with financial support from the Gross National Happiness Commission. Nu 8.5 M has been spent on these works.
The hot spring is located around 13 kilometres away from the Gasa Dzong.
