The Prime Minister, Dr Lotay Tshering called on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, at the Prime Minister’s Office this morning.  Lyonchhen conveyed the warm greetings of His Majesty The King and the people of Bhutan to Bangladesh. The two Prime Ministers discussed the celebration in Bangladesh and also had some bilateral talks. Lyonchhen also signed a visitor’s book at the office.

And later in the afternoon, Lyonchhen called on the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Abdul Hamid at the Presidential Palace in Dhaka. Lyonchhen will later leave for National Parade Ground as the guest of honour and visit Bhutan Embassy in Dhaka.

The Prime Minister is on a 2-day state visit to join the celebration of the centennial birth anniversary of founding leader, Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of its Independence. Bhutan in 1971 became the first country to recognise the independence of Bangladesh.  Lyonchhen will return tomorrow and will undergo 21-day facility quarantine.
