Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering will be attending the celebration of the Birth Centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s Independence. Lyonchhen will leave for Bangladesh on Tuesday.

50 years ago, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman also known as Bangabandhu led Bangladesh to Independence after the Liberation war in 1971 with Pakistan. According to Bangladeshi Media, Bangabandhu, the father of current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reconstructed the war-ravaged country.

And Bhutan was the first country in the world to recognise Bangladesh as a sovereign nation-state right after its independence

Rejoicing their independence and honouring the man behind, the nation is celebrating for 10 days starting 17th March till 26th March. Bangladesh is hosting heads of state and government from five neighbouring countries.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will attend the celebration at the National Parade Ground as a guest of honour and also hold a bilateral talk with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Lyonchhen will be visiting the National Martyr’s Memorial and Bangabandhu Memorial Museum as well.
