The Trashigang District Court, on 5th March, sentenced four men to life imprisonment for Chorten (stupa) vandalism. They were charged with vandalising four Chortens, two from Bidung and two from Phongmey Gewogs, in July and August last year.
Two men were arrested from Trashigang on 3rd August last year while another accomplice was arrested from Thimphu the next day. During the interrogation, the name of another accomplice was also revealed leading to his arrest. They are all from Phongmey and Bidung Gewogs under Trashigang.
