Five years for a series of burglary cases, Tsirang District Court

The Tsirang District Court sentenced a 27-year-old man to five years in prison in connection with a series of burglary cases. The court passed the judgment yesterday. The Tsirang Police arrested the man in September last year. 

According to the judgment, the convict was charged with 17 counts of burglary cases. However, he was given a concurrent sentence. ‘Sentences that may all be served at the same time is concurrent sentencing.’ If the Court decides to give a consecutive sentence, he would have been sentenced to a minimum of 51 years in prison. The judgment states that the convict has stolen cash and edible items worth Nu 82,524 from different shops in Damphu town and its peripheral areas from February 2019 to September last year.

According to the judgment, all victims decided to forgo the cost of the stolen edible items and cash. Meanwhile, the court handed over a mobile phone and mobile voucher found with the convict to respective owners.

The Tsirang police in September last year arrested the man after a mobile voucher’s serial number found at his home during an interrogation matched with that of a complainant who registered a police case with the same serial number. Along with the mobile voucher, police also recovered about Nu 8,000 and edibles worth over Nu 1,600 from the culprit’s home.
