Health Minister Dechen Wangmo said there is no new variant of coronavirus in the country. 23 samples were sent to Bangkok in Thailand for laboratory testing during the last week of the recent lockdown. Meanwhile, Lyonpo added that the Royal Centre for Disease Control (RCDC) will also be equipped to test variants from next month.
“The new variants are not present. From the laboratory testing, it was confirmed that it is the previous UK and US strain. It is important to have such equipment and technicians here in the country. As per the directives from the Prime Minister, the RCDC will be equipped and we are ready to test,” said Dechen Wangmo, the Health Minister.
