Coinciding with the Birthday of His Majesty The King, the Trongsa Rabdey opened one more Buddhist School in Nubi Gewog with about 40 monks, yesterday. The new school is expected to provide easy access to a Buddhist School for people who wish to enrol their children as monks.
The school is located around six kilometres away from Trongsa town towards Bumthang
Jigme Do-Ngag Tendzin, a Trulku with Trongsa Rabdey said, “We are planning to have about 100 monks in future. And we wish to send the monks to Shedra and Dratshang from here .”
The Trulku says that if things go well, the Rabdey plans to institute a Shedra in the gewog.
For residents, a Buddhist school in the community makes it easier for them to find monks for rituals which otherwise is a challenge.
“To preserve and promote our ancient traditions, we have to largely depend on religion practitioners. So having monks around our village would immensely ease while performing rituals like annual pujas, local Tshechus among others,” said Tsagay Chewa, the Tshogpa of Boolingpang_Dorgoen chiwog.
Including the central school, Trongsa now has eight Buddhist schools and one Shedra with around 500 monks.
