A 41-year-old man was found dead near an outdoor gym facility at Chamkhar town in Bumthang this morning. The man from Samtse was an employee of the Bhutan Power Corporation (BPC) office in Bumthang.
A passerby saw the corpse suspended from a bench of a prayer wheel at the site with the head rested on the concrete floor at around 8 am. The man is an epilepsy patient according to Bumthang’s BPC manager. Police suspect the man to have died due to epileptic seizure.
Similarly, a doctor at the Wangduecholing General Hospital said the man could have died due to hypothermia or exposure to extreme cold when he fainted after suffering the seizure. The doctor also said the man suffered a major head injury and is also suspected to have consumed alcohol during the incident.
Police and the doctor rule out foul play.
Meanwhile, the body has been handed over to the deceased’s family.
