Fifteen apprehended in Paro for breaching lockdown protocols

Paro police apprehended 15 people involved in 11 different cases of the breach of lockdown protocol until today. They will be charged under Sections 410 and 448 of the Penal Code of Bhutan.

Four are shopkeepers who were operating their business which otherwise were restricted from opening. According to police, one of the shops has also entertained four customers for a drink. Police seized their license and nabbed the customers as well.

Likewise, four people were caught playing cards while three crossed their zones.  All, except one, has been sent home on surety. According to the police, he was drunk and failed to cooperate with them. He is under police custody.

Police will forward the case to the district court after the lockdown. They will be charged for Criminal Nuisance under Section 410 and the Breach of Public Order and Tranquility under Section 448 of the Penal Code of Bhutan.

The offenses are felony of fourth-degree with a prison term of which shall be a minimum of three years to a maximum of five years.
