It has been just a few days since the Health Ministry started mobile flu clinics in Thimphu to enhance the coverage and improve accessibility, and already 1,059 people have been tested. According to the ministry, not having to call 1010 for an e-permit has encouraged more people to avail themselves of the service.

Beginning today, the ministry revised the schedule for testing as per the zones. This means testing in mobile flu clinics will be carried out zone wise. The ministry shared the new schedule on its Facebook page today.

The clinics will remain open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM during the designated days for each location and people can walk-in directly with their zone card to get tested. However, due to the risks of flu transmission and to avoid unnecessary movement of people, the ministry advises only people with flu symptoms to come for the test.

Those visiting the mobile flu clinics should adhere to the ministry’s safety protocols of wearing a face mask, washing hands, and maintaining a physical distance. Only individuals from the same household can travel in the same car.

Meanwhile, residents of the core town area would have to follow the usual norm to get themselves tested at the flu clinics at the RBP ground, below the national referral hospital.

The mobile flu clinic was started on Monday, the 4th of January 2020 with two vans covering nine identified locations in northern and southern Thimphu.
