Taking into account the mental trauma the coronavirus could pose, the Education Ministry is closely monitoring the students who tested positive. As per the ministry’s Sherig Counseling Services, all of them are doing fine, as of now.
Going by the records maintained with the Sherig Counseling Services, so far, 20 students have tested positive for the coronavirus. Shaba Higher Secondary School detected maximum cases of 16. Of them, 11 are class XII students while two are in class X.
Since the day students tested positive, counselors have been in constant touch with them through text messages, telephone calls, and other social media platforms.
”Initially, they were anxious, but with lots of psycho-education and constant touch by our counselors, they are more relaxed and calm now,’’ said Reena Thapa, the Chief of Career Education and Counselling Division under the education ministry.
She said their counselors have done a great job, thus far.
The counseling service is also keeping in touch with the parents of the children, other students, and teachers who tested negative, but who are equally affected.
Meanwhile, after the cluster outbreak of the virus in Shaba school on 23rd December, 28 class XII students of Arts and Commerce streams have been kept in facility quarantine.
