RT-PCR mandatory for outbound travellers in Paro

With increasing cases of community transmission in Paro, people will be allowed to travel out of the district, only upon testing negative on the RT-PCR test. However, vehicles transporting essentials, dialysis, chemo, and emergency patients will be allowed, upon testing negative on the rapid antigen test.

Earlier, the rapid antigen test result was enough evidence for the outbound travellers, but the National Task Force recommended it after 10 more people tested positive.

”Traveling out of Paro has become risky now. The RT-PCR result is to make sure that there is no further transmission of the virus,’’ said Tenzin Thinley, the Paro Dzongdag.

With the latest cases, the district COVID-19 task force declared Kyidchhu and Lamgong Gewog office premises red zones, today.  According to the dzongdag, they have home-quarantined all the residents of red buildings and flats.

The district task force also declared Woochu, Baangdey, and Khangkhu in Loong-nyi Gewog, and Sharpa Gewog red zones, recently. DeSuups will supply the essentials to the residents in the red zones.

Meanwhile, the zoning system in the low-risk areas will be implemented from tomorrow.
