The National COVID-19 Taskforce has decided to facilitate travel for people stranded in different parts of the country due to the nationwide lockdown. However, only emergency cases, like in the case of death and sickness, will be considered.

For now, with increasing cases, restrictions on travels will be in force for another few days, until contact tracings are complete. ‘‘After contact tracing in about another two days, we may allow travel, after testing,’’ said Dr Tandi Dorji, the Foreign Minister during the Press Brief, yesterday.

Yesterday alone, around 80 people across the country registered to move out of their respective districts.

”After testing negative, we will help their travel,” said the minister.

Lyonpo added those in the high-risk areas who have already completed their quarantine will be allowed to travel.

Meanwhile, the Eastern COVID-19 Taskforce in Samdrup Jongkhar has facilitated such travel for 142 people after the lockdown. Over 200 are still in quarantine.

In Phuentshogling, about 500 people who had registered before the lockdown to undergo quarantine are still stranded.
