“Lhops in transition” What makes them stand out as Lhops or Doyaps is their traditional attire, Kha Sha Paki, and unique dialect, Lhophu. Today, their very existence is a struggle to keep their identity alive — a juggle to retain what makes them Lhop and embracing modernity. In this documentary, our Samtse bureau correspondent, Sherub Dorji, got to hear from the Lhops themselves about what their dress and language means to them. Do they want Lhopu and Kha Sha Paki for times immemorial? Or would Gho, Kira, and Dzongkha suffice?
